Seahawks End Regular Season with Big Win
South River's baseball team now heads into the playoffs after a 9-3 victory over Annapolis High.
An impressive two-way performance from winning pitcher Scott Mitchell led to a 9-3 win Monday over Annapolis High.

Mitchell came up huge at the plate and on the rubber, racking up two RBI on two hits and singles in the third and fifth innings.

Annapolis managed just one hit off of Mitchell, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his two innings of work.
Five runs in the opening three innings allowed to easily put away Annapolis. A sacrifice fly by Mitchell in the first inning and a passed ball during the second inning fueled the Seahawks' early offense.

Craig Sheridan came in to relieve Mitchell, tossing two innings of shutout ball. Sheridan struck out four, walked none and gave up no hits. Reliever Austin Wright struck out two and allowed three runs and senior Nick Sia returned to the mound for the final inning, striking out two.
After posting three runs in the third inning on a passed ball, South River again scored three in the fifth. A crucial wild pitch brought Mitchell home.
That was followed up by Bryan Shores' double, plating Jake Gratz and Nick Raimondo. John McDonald also had an RBI in the game.
