Seahawks Cruise Past Glen Burnie, 10-3

A strong offensive performance powered South River's baseball team to their ninth win of the season.

The Gophers fought hard but cruised to a 10-3 win in seven innings at Glen Burnie High on Friday. 

The first inning saw South River take an early lead. Joe Scott started the rally with a single and a groundout by Connor Cox then moved Scott from first to second. Then an error scored Scott. After the early runs, Glen Burnie responded with two runs in the first, scoring on an RBI triple and a groundout.

South River finally managed to grab and hold the lead after a strong fourth inning where they scored on an RBI double by Jake Gratz, plating Nick Sia.

Sia had a busy day at the plate, collecting three extra-base hits. He tripled in the second inning and doubled in the fourth and seventh innings.

Charlie Hardesty recorded the win for South River, where he allowed three runs during seven innings. Hardesty struck out seven, walked three and surrendered six hits.

Sia and Craig Sheridan teamed up for five hits and seven RBI. The Seahawks matched their three-run fifth inning with three more in the seventh. In the fifth, South River scored on a two-run triple by Sheridan, plating Bryan Shores and Cox.

During the contest, Scott Mitchell blasted a deep fly ball for an in-the-park home run and drove in four runs in the game.
