See JFK's Speech to 1961 Naval Academy Graduates

In the '60s, Naval Academy midshipmen couldn't marry or buy a car until after graduation.

In 1961, president John F. Kennedy paid a visit to Annapolis to speak to the graduating class from the U.S. Naval Academy.

A newsreel video of the ceremony has since entered the public domain and was uploaded to YouTube recently.

As the video mentions, once the midshipmen graduated, they could buy cars or get married. According to the video, there were 784 graduates that day. The class that graduated in 2013 included 764 Navy ensigns.
