Police: Man Hit, Shot at Girlfriend in Friendship
Police have charged a Friendship man with first- and second-degree attempted murder.

A Friendship man has been charged with attempted murder after he allegedly shot at his girlfriend outside their Friendship home early Wednesday morning, police said.
John Brice Clagett, 44, of the 300 block of Friendship Road in Friendship was charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, according to a release.
At 1:45 a.m. officers responded to the 300 block of Friendship Road after woman called 911 staying that her boyfriend struck her with an object in the home, causing her to fall to the ground. She said he then shot at her, according to police.

The woman said she ran from the home and was trying to get into her car when “multiple shots were fired by the suspect,” police said. All of the rounds hit the car, and the woman was able to drive to a nearby home to call police.
When officers arrived to the scene, they tried to enter the home, but all the doors were locked. Police said they determined the suspect, Clagett, was still inside the home and they set up a perimeter around the house.

Within an hour, Clagett was placed under arrest after her came out of a wooded area behind the home, according to a release. Police said Clagett was armed with a shotgun and pistol when he was arrested.
After receiving consent from the victim, officers searched the home and seized numerous other weapons, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
