UPDATE: Firefighters Extinguish Flames at Holiday Point Marina

Around 94 personnel were reportedly worked the scene at 3:30 p.m. with 40 land-based units and two fire boats.

UPDATED (5:55 p.m.)—Firefighters have extinguished the flames of a four-alarm fire at the in Edgewater, according to Capt. James Rostek of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Just before 2 p.m. Sunday, firefighters responded to a call of a reported brush fire at the 3700 block of Beach Drive Boulevard in the Selby Heights community, Rostek said.

Firefighters arrived and found “a large working incident” that escalated to a four-alarm fire, said Rostek.

Around 94 personnel were reportedly working the scene at 3:30 p.m. with 40 land-based units and two fire boats. For hours, firefighters contained the flames but were unable to completely extinguish them.

Rostek said one storage-like building on marina property suffered serious damage but no single-family homes were destroyed. The flames did get within about 75 feet of some structures, said the captain.

The smoke was visible throughout the area on Sunday afternoon as a local resident sent Patch photos of the smoke from Selby Boulevard.
