South River Senior Honored with National Merit Scholarship
South River's William Ewing is one of 4,800 students nationwide receiving financial aid from the national organization.
The National Merit Scholarship Corp. recently selected a student from as one of about 4,800 students from across the country who will receive financial aid throughout their college career.
South River senior William Ewing received a college-sponsored scholarship from Case Western University, where he plans to pursue a degree in computer science, according to an Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) release.
Along with Ewing, ’s Christophere Eurle received a scholarship from the National Merit Scholarship Corp. and plans to study medicine at the University of Maryland, according to the release.

“The following students received college-sponsored awards, which range between $500 and $2,000 annually for up to four years of undergraduate study,” the release stated.
The national scholarship organization awarded nearly $35 million in 2012 to college-bound students, according to the AACPS’ release.

The AACPS reported National Merit Scholarship Corp. officials will announce another group of scholarship-winning students in the summer.
