Support Kahve Cafe in 'Coffee Madness Tournament' Finals

Edgewater’s  is in the finals for this year’s Coffee Madness Tournament, hosted by The Capital newspaper.

For weeks, the competition—styled like the NCAA mens basketball tournament— has pitted two cafes against one another for three-day periods to see which is best, using the number of redeemed coupons from The Capital as the determining factor. This week marks the “finals,” putting Kahve Cafe against of Annapolis.

Joe Valentino, owner and general manager of , said he’s excited to see if the new cafe can overthrow an Annapolis establishment.

“It means a lot in the land of Annapolis to have a cafe outside of Annapolis be in the final,” Valentino said. “Being in the final definitely means a lot. It means we have some great customers that are invested and want to make sure we stick around. It means we’re becoming part of the community.”

Located at 155 Mitchells Chance Rd., Kahve Cafe opened less than a year ago and established itself as a solid option for coffee, sandwiches and cupcakes.  Valentino credited the cafe’s atmosphere and quality products as the reason for its success so far.

“Number one, we offer a really good product—I think it’s the best coffee around. Two, we offer a sense of community and an atmosphere that people enjoy,” Valentino said. “We’re not a chain. We’re local, and there’s not an independent cafe like use anywhere nearby, even in Annapolis. Everything is homemade."

In order to support the Edgewater cafe, Valentino said residents can obtain a copy of Sunday, Monday or Tuesday’s The Capital newspaper, bring in the “Coffee Madness Tournament” coupon from the front page and redeem it for a free coffee or other beverage.

Coupons aren’t limited to one per person, Valentino said, so people can bring in as many coupons for free drinks as they’d like.
