Tornado Confirmed Over Shady Side, Bowie As Storm Uproots Trees In MD
A tornado passed over Shady Side on Tuesday, officials said. A twister also downed trees and snapped power lines in Bowie.

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD — The National Weather Service said a tornado passed over Shady Side on Tuesday. That twister came minutes after the weather officials confirmed that a tornado also traveled above Bowie.
Meteorologists confirmed the Bowie tornado at 5:28 p.m. The storm traveled southeast into Anne Arundel County at 25 mph. Weather authorities confirmed the Shady Side twister by 6:06 p.m.
The Bowie tornado uprooted trees and snapped power lines. Nobody was hurt in that twister, Bowie Mayor Tim Adams said.

Twitter user @RobbMDWxMedia shared a video of dark clouds whipping and trees swaying near Edgewater. Those drone and cell phone videos are posted at this link.
There were fewer reports of damage in Anne Arundel County, however. South county residents still sheltered in place for about an hour during the tornado warning.
Officials urged Marylanders to head to their basements or interior rooms without windows. Erin Dolan Bailey shared a photo of four children waiting out the storm in a bathroom.
