Vandals Slash Car Tires in 'Random Act'
More than a dozen cars had their tires slashed in the Cedarhurst on the Bay community in Shady Side.

More than a dozen car tires were slashed in Shady Side on April 27 in the Cedarhurst on the Bay community in what police labeled a "random act."
“It looked like they all happened late evening on the 27th at roughly 11 p.m., going into the early hours of April 28 until about 2 a.m.,” Anne Arundel County police spokesman Justin Mulcahy told Patch.
Linda Davis, a resident whose car tires were slashed, contacted Patch about the incident earlier this week, saying many residents still have no clue what happened.

“It had to have taken one or more people quite a bit to vandalize these cars, especially when they were on multiple streets,” Davis said. “Yet, no one saw anything.”
Cars in the south side of the neighborhood on Cedarhurst Road, and Bayview, Maple and Cedar avenues had their tires slashed. It wasn’t until morning that residents learned of what happened.

Mulcahy said the incident was “sporadic in nature.”
“Several of the locked cars were slashed, but the unlocked cars were broken into,” Mulcahy said. “It appears random.”
Police have not arrested any suspects related to the incident, but officers are working closely with local car owners and the community association, Mulcahy said.
