West/Rhode Rivers Safe to Swim Except Holly Hills

The following information was shared by West/Rhode Riverkeeper and Anne Arundel County Councilman Chris Trumbauer (D-6th District). 

The newest bacteria monitoring results are in. , the Holly Hills site near the head of Bearneck Creek in the Rhode River contained a level of bacteria above the EPA's single test safe swimming limit.

All other stations in both the West and Rhode Rivers were well below that limit. To see the full results of this week's sampling, click HERE. 

We are excited to announce the launch of the Waterkeeper Swim Guide in our area on July 26, which is Swimmable Action Day. Swim Guide is a tool that can be viewed online, or on your mobile device.

It is a simple way to see the current bacteria results for your favorite swimming holes in the West and Rhode Rivers—and beyond! Many Waterkeeper groups across the country are now reporting their data using Swim Guide. Stay tuned for more information soon!
