Upward Basketball and Cheerleading
When: Monday, Tuesday, Friday
Where: 38 West Central Ave., Edgewater (next to Safeway)
Details: Basketball and cheerleading orientation for grades K-7. The early registration cost per child for basketball or cheer-leading is $75; after October 18, the cost is $95. The deadline for registration is December 19.
Weekly Drop-In Meditation Classes
When: Tuesday
Where: Kadampa Meditation Center Maryland - Annapolis Branch, 107 Ridgely Ave., #14-A, Annapolis
Details: Transform your life through looking within yourself for the inner peace and happiness you seek, to develop a positive outlook. The cost is $10 per class; $5 for seniors, students and the unemployed.
4th Annual SRYA Golf Tournament
When: Thursday
Where: The Golf Club at South River
Details: Check in is at 9 a.m., 10 a.m. shotgun start. The $125 per golfer registration includes golf cart and greens fee, complimentary snacks, unlimited beverages, gift bag, post-game meal, chances to win great prizes, raffles, longest drive contest and more.
Puddle Stompers, Pre-K: Owls
When: Thursday
Where: 647 Contees Wharf Rd, Edgewater
Details: Children ages 3-5 will learn about owls and their adaptations for hunting. They will play games and dissect owl pellets to see what owls eat. Classes are $8 a student, which includes a materials fee. Siblings are $4 a student (sibling ages 1-2 yrs. or 6+ yrs.). Registration is limited and online only at http://serc.si.edu.
Taste of the Towne Center Fashion Show
When: Thursday
Where: Great Gatherings at Annapolis Towne Center
Details: Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. Event features silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, a raffle and music.
Salsa Thursdays
When: Thursday
Where: Metropolitan Kitchen & Lounge
Details: All levels of dancers are welcome at this monthly event. The dance will kick off with a beginners lesson.
Fall Maryland Home & Garden Show
When: Friday
Where: Maryland State Fairgrounds, 2200 York Rd., Timonium
Details: More than 300 exhibitors, antiques matchmaker, pumpkin carving, landscaped gardens, a juried craft show and more.
