9 Residents, 2 Pets Without A Home After Apartment Fire: HCDFRS
A Monday morning fire in Columbia has displaced nine residents and two pets from their apartment complex, according to the HCDFRS.

COLUMBIA, MD — Nine residents and two pets have been displaced after a fire broke out in a third floor apartment Monday morning.
Firefighters were called to the apartment building located in the 8700 block of Hayshed Lane in Columbia around 8:15 a.m. for a report of smoke coming from the apartment building. Crews arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the third floor and found a fire in one of the units, according to the fire department.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes. Due to fire and water damage, three apartments have been deemed uninhabitable, the fire department said. The Red Cross is helping the residents. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Office of the Fire Marshal.
