Help Our Lady of Perpetual Help Make Playtime Safer

could win $50,000 to renovate a playground that was built in 2005 in memory of Jacob Storck, a church parishioner who, according to the school, died before he entered school, "Leaving behind an example of pure happiness often displayed while he was on playground."

The school is competing in the Clorox Power a Bright Future contest which will provide money to school programs that promote opportunities to "play, create and explore."

The school that receives the most votes will win a $50,000 grand prize. The next top five vote-getters will get a $25,000 prize.

Vote for OLPH here. The deadline to vote is Dec. 9

The playground at OLPH is used by students as well as children in the neighboring Elkridge and Ellicott City neighborhoods. At the time the playground was built, money was tight, according to the school, and there were limited options for a surface. OLPH would use the prize money to install a safer, more environmentally friendly surface, such as synthetic, padded grass.
