Essex-Middle River Crime: Resident Scares Away Intruder

An Essex man was arrested on suspicion of three attempted robberies in the span of 10 minutes. Read our report.

Maple Crest Drive, 700 block. 11:05 p.m., Nov. 3. A woman was sitting on her couch when a man opened a rear door. The woman screamed and the man fled toward Compass Road.

Holly Drive, 300 block. Between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m., Nov. 2. Someone broke into a laundry room at Oak Grove Apartments and stole an unknown amount of quarters from a washing machine. Police say the burglar was wearing a sweatshirt with the logo of Oak Grove owner Morgan Properties.

Maple Avenue, 300 block. Between 9 p.m., Nov. 1 and 5:40 a.m., Nov. 2. An intruder broke a lock on a shed and took an Echo leaf blower, Echo chainsaw and Honda power washer.
