Police Investigating Armed Robbery at Walgreens

Police are investigating an armed robbery, which occurred Thursday night at a in Essex.

According to a police report, a suspect displayed a silver revolver at about 8 p.m. to the store cashier.  The holdup man said, “Give me the money,” and took $214 from the register and ran down South Marlyn Avenue. The store is located on the unit block of South Marlyn Avenue.

Witnesses told police that the suspect first approached the photo center and asked for a prepaid cell phone, which he grabbed and took to the cashier prior to the robbery.

Walgreens management was able to show police surveillance video of the incident which showed  the suspect was a male, wearing a camouflage hat, sunglasses, facial hair (possibly a goatee), white T-shirt, jean shorts, white socks, tennis shoes while holding a lime green bag.

A store customer also described the suspect to police and chased after him before he escaped, according to police reports.
