GAITHERSBURG, MD — A driver and passenger are dead following a multi-vehicle crash in Gaithersburg Wednesday night, according to Montgomery County police.

The collision occurred at the intersection of Muddy Branch Road and West Deer Park Road around 6:30 p.m.

Police said a 2020 Toyota Supra was traveling north on Muddy Branch Road when it collided with a 2001 Honda Accord that was trying to turn left onto eastbound West Deer Park Road.

The driver of the Toyota Supra — Stephanie Angelica Vasquez, 25, of Kensington — and the front-seat passenger — Jonathan Charkas, 35, of Rockville — died at the scene, according to officials.

The driver of the Honda Accord — Heriberto Santos Gonzalez, 40, of Gaithersburg — and two adult male passengers were rushed to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

Officials said they believe that the Supra's speed may have contributed to the collision.
