35-Year-Old Man Charged With Raping Woman He Met On Dating App
Police have arrested a Virginia man they say raped a woman in Olney on Aug. 23. The pair had met on a dating app a day earlier.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Montgomery County police have arrested a Virginia man they say sexually assaulted a woman he met on a dating app.
Douglas Clifton Stewart, 35, of Burke, was charged with second-degree rape. The attack, authorities say, took place in Olney on Aug. 23.
The pair met via a dating app on Aug. 22 and arranged to meet at a public parking lot in Olney the following evening, police said.

That night, the woman told police that Stewart offered to drive her to get food, but instead sexually and physically assaulted her. She said Stewart then returned to the parking lot and pushed her out of his vehicle.
A warrant was issued for Stewart's arrest, charging him with second-degree rape, second-degree assault, and a fourth-degree sexual offense, according to police.

Stewart was arrested at his home Wednesday morning and taken to the Fairfax County Detention Center in Virginia. Police say he is awaiting extradition to Montgomery County.
Detectives say they are concerned that Stewart may have sexually assaulted other people. Anyone who believes he/she was victimized by Stewart is asked to call police at 240-773-5400.
