Abduction, Assault Charges for Father After Amber Alert: Police
The Hyattsville father who reportedly took his 5-month-old baby from her mother by force turned himself in Tuesday night.

Montgomery County Police have arrested and charged a Hyattsville man accused of taking his 5-month-old baby, prompting Tuesday’s Amber Alert.
Deare Marquise Denny, 26, is accused of taking his child, Drew Marie Denny, from the mother’s home in the 19000 block of Hempstone Avenue in Poolesville at around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, according to police.
Deare Denny allegedly punched the child’s mother in the face then grabbed and squeezed the mother’s throat with his hands, causing her to momentarily lose consciousness, according to police. Deare Denny then allegedly took the baby and put her in his car without a car seat. Police claim he then pointed a gun at the child’s mother, and threatened to kill her.

An Amber Alert was issued for the baby girl, and around 8:30 p.m. Deare Denny turned himself in to Prince George’s County authorities. The child was with him and unharmed. She has been reunited with her mother.
Deare Denny faces charges of first-degree assault, second-degree assault, possession of a handgun in a vehicle, use of a firearm, in the commission of a felony/crime of violence, reckless endangerment, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, abduction by a relative and hiding a child within the state. He has being held without bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center.
