Best Buy Store Closing In MoCo In October: Report

GAITHERSBURG, MD — One Best Buy store in Montgomery County is slated to close in late October 2024, a report said Monday. The electronics retailer has said it plans to shutter 10 to 15 stores this year.

The site at 15750 Shady Grove Road in Gaithersburg will close for good on Oct. 26, the MoCo Show reported.

Best Buy stores at 1200 Rockville Pike in Rockville and 20914 Frederick Road in Germantown will remain open. The Germantown location is undergoing remodeling, and is closed from 10 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday while that work is ongoing, the company said.

The commercial real estate firm klnb is leasing the space as a “rare box opportunity” for 46,155 square feet with a virtual tour of the location posted on the klnb website.

Best Buy closed 24 stores in the fiscal year that ended on Jan. 31, reported The Street, and said it plans to shut down 10 to 15 low-performing stores in fiscal year 2025.
