Gaithersburg Museum To Commemorate Centennial Of Women's Suffrage

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The Gaithersburg Community Museum will be holding a Facebook chat this month to commemorate the centennial of women's suffrage.
The virtual event, called "Maryland and the Suffrage Movement," will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 13 at 7 p.m.
The 19th Amendment — which gave women the right to vote — was ratified 100 years ago on Aug. 18.

"Maryland had a very active suffrage organization even while the state's political leaders were mostly against passage. Learn more about this critical time with Susan Philpott, a National Park ranger at the Belmont-Paul Women's Equality National Monument," read the museum's Facebook event.
