Gaithersburg Presents Employee Recognition Awards
Program Supervisor Pam Truxal and the Phone System Implementation Team received Employee Recognition Awards for the first quarter of 2017.

From the City of Gaithersburg: At the Mayor and City Council meeting on Monday, June 5, 2017, Program Supervisor Pam Truxal and the Phone System Implementation Team were presented with Employee Recognition Awards for the first quarter of calendar year 2017.
Made up of peers from each department, Gaithersburg’s Employee Recognition Committee (ERC) reviews nominations for individuals and teams on a quarterly basis. These winners are then eligible for the annual Employee and Team of the Year Awards.
Pam Truxal, Program Supervisor with the Parks, Recreation and Culture Department, was named Employee of the First Quarter for going above and beyond while managing multiple programs and projects. When a City teen sports program was left without a supervisor, Pam took over the additional responsibilities of supervising the program all while her own Pickleball program gained in popularity and required additional time. While overseeing both programs, Pam and her team also began the hiring process for a Teen Sports Program Supervisor. It was noted that even with the additional tasks and extra effort, Pam’s programs continued to perform at high quality and both were a great success due to her diligence and hard work.

The Phone System Implementation Team, comprised of Adrienne Aultmon, Andrew Barnes, Bonnie Bigenho, Jim Conway, Pete Cottrell, Tammy De Andrade, Guy Goodenough, Brian Helms, Yeon Kim, Justin McCubbin, Rick Rowles, and Thomas Tracy of the Information Technology (IT) Department, was named the Team of the First Quarter for the extensive work involved in upgrading the City’s phone system. The upgrade affected all City staff in some form, necessitating IT employees to interact with every department and division. The massive undertaking required a tremendous amount of pre-planning and working with outside contractors for wiring and other services. The team provided City staff with multiple training sessions and has been available to troubleshoot and answer any questions that have come up. To minimize disruptions and keep the project on schedule, the team worked many long days, including weekends. It was noted that the results of the team’s efforts have been very positive and have added to the efficiency of City staff.
