German Biotech Expanding Operations In Montgomery County
Along with its plans to hire an additional 130 people, Miltenyi Biotec will move its North American headquarters to Montgomery County.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — Global biotechnology business, Miltenyi Biotec, recently announced its expanding its operations in Maryland and transferring its North American headquarters to Gaithersburg.
The company is working on expanding its 1201 Clopper Rd. facility to support additional manufacturing, research and development, quality assurance and more.
As a result, the German-based company said it plans to add 130 new full-time jobs in Maryland, giving it a total of 300 employees in the state by the end of the year.

“By selecting Maryland for its North American headquarters, Miltenyi Biotec will help us continue growing our industry and further our efforts in remaining one of the top 10 life sciences clusters in the nation,” Gov. Larry Hogan said in a news release. “We welcome the company’s continued investment in Montgomery County and look forward to supporting their efforts in Maryland and across the globe.”
To assist with job creation, the company said it has submitted a notice of intent to utilize the state’s More Jobs for Marylanders program and Job Creation Tax Credit, both managed by the Maryland Department of Commerce. There are currently more than three dozen job openings posted on the Miltenyi Biotec website related to its headquarters, distribution, R&D, and CDMO operations in Gaithersburg.

For more than 30 years, Miltenyi Biotec has focused on providing innovative products and services to support research throughout the biomedical and cellular therapy fields.
With its global headquarters in Germany, Miltenyi Biotec has locations throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America, and distributes its products to more than 50 countries. The company currently employs about 4,000 individuals around the world.
