​Mayor’s State of the City Address, Citizenship Awards to be Presented April 13

The annual event will be on April 13 from 6:30-9 pm at the Rosborough Cultural Arts Center. Seating for the event is limited.

From the City of Gaithersburg: Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman and members of the City Council will host the annual State of the City Address on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the Rosborough Cultural Arts Center on the grounds of Asbury Methodist Village. In addition to the Mayor’s annual address, the event also includes the presentation of awards for the Distinguished Citizen, Outstanding Organization and Distinguished Friend of Gaithersburg, and serves as the final official event for Junior Mayor Srinidhi Guruvayurappan. The incoming Junior Mayor will be introduced as well.

Community Activist, Gaithersburg Cluster Representative and Summit Hall Elementary School PTA President Oscar Alvarenga will be presented with the 2017 Distinguished Citizen Award. The Outstanding Organization Award is being presented to Liberty’s Promise, which provides immigrant youth with opportunities to impact and interact with their communities. The Distinguished Friend Award will be presented to Ken Weiss, who has served the Gaithersburg community for many years through involvement on the City’s Multicultural Affairs Committee, the Gaithersburg Rotary Club, and many other charitable endeavors.

The full program will be videotaped and available for viewing a few days after the event on Gaithersburg TV, available on Comcast and RCN channel 13 and FiOS channel 25 within the City limits. The program will also be available on the City’s website at www.gaithersburgmd.gov and on its YouTube channel at GburgMD.

Invited guests include civic partners who serve on City boards, commissions and committees, community leaders, county and state representatives, and others whose involvement is invaluable to our community.

Seating for the event is limited. Should space be available after invited guests have submitted their reservations, the event will be opened to the public on a first come, first served basis.
