📰 News we're reading

• Wootton High could permanently move to upcoming Crown High in Gaithersburg under MCPS boundary option ‘H' (wtop.com) — Montgomery County Public Schools are considering a boundary option that would move Rockville’s Wootton High School community into the new Crown High School being built in Gaithersburg, making Crown their permanent home. Under “option H,” Wootton’s current building could become a temporary holding school for other campuses during construction or renovation, a change that could significantly reshape high school assignments for Gaithersburg-area families.

• Department of Commerce Announces Transition of Baldrige Performance Excellence Program (nist.gov) — A major federal quality and performance program run by NIST in Gaithersburg is shifting much of its operations to nonprofit partners while Commerce keeps overall responsibility. Local residents should know this change affects how the Baldrige Award and related programs are managed nationwide, but does not appear to alter NIST’s Gaithersburg presence or local services directly.

• Trone Announces Challenge to Delaney (montgomeryperspective.com) — Gaithersburg is front and center as former Congressman David Trone launches a comeback bid for Maryland’s 6th District, framing the race as a fight for communities from Gaithersburg to Oakland. He’s challenging incumbent April McClain Delaney in a high-stakes Democratic primary, vowing to oppose Trump and MAGA Republicans and positioning himself as a relentless advocate for local residents.
