GAITHERSBURG, MD — The lone occupant of a small plane was killed when the Cessna-style aircraft crashed Tuesday, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.   Spokesman Pete Piringer noted the crash prior to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in a field off of Laytonsville Road near Hawkins Creamery Road, near Davis Airfield.      Firefighters were attacking the blaze at the scene and searching the area for survivors.    The National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration have been notified.      This is a breaking news post.
