Pilot Dead in Small Plane Crash in Gaithersburg

Fire crews were working to put out blaze at crash site near Davis Airfield, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — The lone occupant of a small plane was killed when the Cessna-style aircraft crashed Tuesday, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Spokesman Pete Piringer noted the crash prior to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday in a field off of Laytonsville Road near Hawkins Creamery Road, near Davis Airfield.

Firefighters were attacking the blaze at the scene and searching the area for survivors.
