Weather Closures Mean More School This Summer In Montgomery Co.

Montgomery County Public Schools students will see a later start to summer because of weather-related closings.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Montgomery County Public Schools students will see a later start to summer this June, due to weather-related events that led to cancelled classes in the area.

After school was cancelled for Friday's wind storm, the last day of school was pushed back to June 14. The original closing day was June 12, but was extended because of a snow day Feb. 7.

By Maryland law, MCPS cannot extend the school year past June 15. If there are four more weather-related closings, school officials said the first day of Spring Break on March 26 will be used as a make-up day.
