Gaithersburg Man Accused Of Killing Partner Arrested In Texas
The man is charged with first-degree murder following the weekend shooting in Gaithersburg.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Gaithersburg man is facing charges after authorities said he fatally shot his partner and was later arrested in Texas.
Luis Antonio Quintanilla, 39, is charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 35-year-old Maritza Ferman Sorto, Montgomery County police said in a statement.
According to police, officers responded to the home shared by Quintanilla and Sorto in the 9000 block of Centerway Drive in Gaithersburg shortly before 2:45 a.m. Sunday after receiving a call about shots fired.

Officers found Sorto outside the home suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said. Despite lifesaving efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives determined that Quintanilla was responsible for Sorto’s death, police said. A warrant was later obtained for his arrest.

On Monday, Quintanilla was arrested in Irving, Texas, after people who knew he was wanted for murder contacted the Irving Police Department. He is being held in Texas, where he is awaiting extradition to Maryland.
