1 Killed In Crash On Great Seneca Highway In Montgomery County

Authorities said the two-car collision occurred on Monday night.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A woman is dead following a two-car collision on Great Seneca Highway in Montgomery County, authorities said.

Police said the crash happened shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday at the intersection of the highway and Mateny Road. According to police, a man was driving a black Mazda north on Great Seneca Highway when it struck a white Subaru that was turning left onto eastbound Mateny Road.

The impact from the crash caused the Subaru to roll, and the female driver was thrown from the car.

Despite lifesaving efforts, police said the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Mazda was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the crash. Police will release more information, including the woman's name, following notification of family.
