Back To School: Germantown 2021-22 School Calendar
Parents in Germantown can mark the first day of school coming later this summer.
GERMANTOWN, MD — Back-to-school planning has already begun for Germantown students, with calendars available to help parents prepare for the first day in Montgomery County Public Schools.
The first day of school for students in Montgomery County is Aug. 30.
Heading into the upcoming school year, some dates are subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic nears its year-and-a-half point. The MCPS Board of Education has said it's committed to having students in-person full time this upcoming year.

All students, staff and visitors to MCPS buildings will be required to wear masks, regardless of vaccination status, the Board of Education announced Tuesday. Superintendent Monifa McKnight said that new research and guidance is coming forward constantly — the same day that the board made its mask decision, the CDC recommended that all students in schools be required to wear masks.
"We've taken this research and taken it into consideration in terms of planning for the fall, said McKnight at the Board of Education meeting. "So you will see our recommendations based and grounded in the foundation of a lot of that research."
