Did You Feel the Earthquake?

Online reports say quake was felt in Washington, Maryland, New York and even North Carolina.

A magnitude 5.8 earthquake struck the east coast of the United States at about 1:53 p.m. today, according to various state and local government reports.

The quake was centered in Mineral, Va., a small town of just more than 400 people about 30 miles due east of Charlottesville, Va.

At 2:01 p.m., the Montgomery County Alert System issued this advisory, "At approximately 1:53 Montgomery County did experience an earthqake.  the quake was centered in Mineral Virginia and estimated at 5.8 on the richter scale."

Germantown was at the epicenter of a 3.6-magnitude earthquake early July 16, 2010. The earthquake could be felt from West Virginia to Bridgeport, Conn., according to NASA.
