GERMANTOWN, MD — A resident stumbled upon human remains while walking in a field along Great Seneca Highway in Germantown Monday afternoon, Montgomery County Police announced Tuesday. Police say the man was walking in the 12600 block of Great Seneca Hwy. at about 4:42 p.m. when he located the skeletal remains. The bones were not concealed or located in any type of grave, police said. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the remains. Police are conducting a death investigation and sent the remains to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to determine the cause and manner of death. This is an active and ongoing investigation, police said. More details will be released as they become available. Detectives are urging anyone who may have information regarding this death to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070 or contact Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).
