GERMANTOWN, MD — Independence Day is quickly approaching, which means it's time to fire up that barbecue and find out what Fourth of July fireworks and festivities are going on near Germantown in 2023.

We gathered up all the fireworks shows, parades and festivals happening in and around Germantown so you can start planning now.

Germantown: Germantown Glory

When: Tuesday, July 4, 7 p.m.

Where: South Germantown Recreational Park, 18041 Central Park Circle in Germantown (Boyds)

The event starts with a concert by Forever Tina, a tribute band to the late queen of rock and roll, Tina Turner. On-site parking is available. The fireworks display will begin about 9:15 p.m. The timing of the fireworks may change due to weather conditions. Lawn chairs, blankets and coolers are welcome. There will be food vendors at both locations. Alcoholic beverages and pets are not permitted.

Gaithersburg: Summerfest at Boher Park
When: Saturday, July 1
Where: Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm, 506 S. Frederick Ave., Gaithersburg

Celebrate America’s independence with friends & family at SummerFest, Gaithersburg’s festival on the grounds of Bohrer Park at Summit Hall Farm. The free event takes place on Saturday, July 1 from 6 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and features live music, food trucks, local breweries, family-friendly activities, all leading up to a fireworks display and SummerGlo After Party.

Rockville: Independence Day Celebration

When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm, 1800 Piccard Drive, Rockville

The City of Rockville will hold its annual Independence Day celebration and fireworks display at Mattie J.T. Stepanek Park in King Farm on Tuesday, July 4 from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The location offers wonderful spectator viewing, and ample and convenient parking for the 4th of July festivities. Enjoy live music by Vertigo Red and a 20-minute fireworks display.


Wheaton: Mid-County Sparkles

When: Saturday, July 1
Where: Newport Mill Local Park, 11201 Newport Mill Road, Wheaton
Mid-County Sparkles, one of Montgomery County’s Independence Day celebrations, will take place on Saturday, July 1. Live music begins at 6 pm and fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. No alcohol or pets are permitted.


Montgomery Village Independence Day Celebration
When: July 4, 9 a.m.
Where: Apple Ridge recreation Area, 10101 Apple Ridge Road, Montgomery Village, Maryland
A parade will feature fire engines, classic cars, mascots, music and more. Parade registration is 9 a.m., followed by judging at 9:30 a.m., and a 10 a.m. start. The day continues with carnival rides, games, a petting zoo, pony rides, festival foods, free concerts and more.

Symphony, Fireworks in Baltimore City:

This year’s Inner Harbor July 4 festivities begin at 3 p.m. and the 13-minute fireworks display will go off around 9:15 p.m., according to Visit Baltimore.

The event will include food, fun activities, and a DJ at the Red, White, and Blue Picnic at West Shore Park. Then, entertainers will perform from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater. Between concerts, there will be a DJ, street performers, and activities from various attractions along the promenade.

At 8 p.m., the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will host a Star-Spangled Celebration concert in Rash Field Park. The full orchestra performance will culminate around 9:15 p.m. with a 15-minute fireworks display. The best views are along the Inner Harbor promenade and surrounding areas, including Canton, Federal Hill, Fell’s Point, Harbor East, and Locust Point.


Washington, DC Fourth of July Celebration
When: Tuesday, July 4
Where: Around National Mall, Washington, DC

There will be various events for Fourth of July in DC, including the National Independence Day Parade from 11:45 a.m. to 2 p.m. along Constitution Avenue NW from 7th Street NW to 17th Street NW with marching bands, fife and drum corps, floats, military units, giant balloons, equestrian, drill teams and more. A Capitol Fourth Concert is a free event held on the West Lawn of the United States Capitol at 8 p.m. and will be livestreamed. Fireworks will be held starting at 9:09 p.m., launched from both sides of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
