Man Charged With Murder After Woman Fatally Shot At Germantown Park

The shooting claimed the life of a 34-year-old Germantown woman, according to police.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Authorities have arrested and charged a man in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred at a Germantown park last weekend.

Shortly before 11:10 p.m. on Saturday, a Montgomery County police officer was patrolling in the area of Germantown Road and Middlebrook Road when they heard gunshots coming from Germantown Square Urban Park.

After responding to the area, Maryland National Capital Park Police and fire rescue personnel located 34-year-old Kendall Butler of Germantown suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite lifesaving efforts, Butler was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, 39-year-old Michael Aaron Lynn of Germantown, 61-year-old Kent Williams Jr. and a third man were seen leaving the area following the shooting. All three men were taken into custody, and police said both Lynn and Williams had guns in their possession.

Following the investigation, Lynn was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and charged with first-degree murder and other weapons offenses. Williams was also jailed and charged with several weapons counts.
