Man Tries To Kidnap Teen Girl In Germantown: Police

A man attempted to kidnap a 13-year-old girl near a 7-Eleven in Germantown Friday evening, police said.

GERMANTOWN, MD — An unknown man tried to kidnap a 13-year-old girl outside of a 7-Eleven in Germantown Friday evening, Montgomery County Police said.

The girl was walking home from the 7-Eleven at 12681 Clopper Rd. when she was approached by a man in a car at about 7:50 p.m., police said.

The driver asked her if she needed a ride. When she said no, the man allegedly parked and exited his car. He approached the girl, grabbed her arm and tried to pull her towards him, police said.

Police said a male witness was walking his dog and told the suspect to stop.

The girl freed herself and ran home. She told her parents, who then called the police.

Police describe the suspect as a Hispanic male, possibly in his 30s, who is 5'10" and thin. He was clean shaven and smelled "clean, as if he had recently bathed," the victim told police. The man had a thick accent and was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans.

The man;'s car was described as white and possibly a smaller SUV.
