Car Free Day will take place on Sept. 22, worldwide.

"When more people travel on bicycles, buses, trains, and by carpools and vanpools, fewer pollutants are released into the atmosphere," MCDOT said in an announcement about Car Free Day. "Using more sustainable ways to get around, helps reduce harmful greenhouse gas emissions and traffic congestion."
