MOCO Kindergarten Registration Now Open For 2022-23 School Year

Kids in Montgomery County who will be 5 by Sept. 1 are eligible for enrollment in kindergarten for the 2022-23 academic year.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Registration for kindergarteners entering school in fall 2022 is now open in the Montgomery County Public School district.

MCPS has a four-step enrollment process outlined, which includes Eligibility, Registration, Important Documents and School Contact. Children who are five years old by Sept. 1 are eligible for enrollment. Registration can be completed online or on paper by contacting the child's school, which can be found using the district's school locator.

  1. Proof of Residency
  2. Identification
  3. Birth documents
  4. Health Forms

There are exceptions to these requirements for students who are homeless, the district said.

Orientation will be hosted by schools over the summer, MCPS said. Schools will share more information with families who have registered their children.

Families should receive a confirmation that the registration was accepted over email within a week of submitting it, depending on the volume of applications. Registration opened March 28.
