MOCO Schools Negotiate Police's Return To School Buildings: WaPo

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Leaders from Montgomery County Public Schools and the Police Department have a drafted an agreement to return armed police officers to school buildings, The Washington Post reported. The contract, which was not released to the public by county leaders, was published by the Post.

This academic year was the first in 19 in which officers were not stationed in schools, The Washington Post reported. School activists who worked to have officers removed were dismayed to hear that there were private conversations going on to bring them back.

“It’s wildly inappropriate that they’ve excluded students,” Kyson Taylor, a senior at Richard Montgomery High School, told The Washington Post.
