MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Eighteen years after a Montgomery County Police officer helped deliver a child on Interstate 270, he attended the teen’s graduation Friday.

Officer Robert Hunt, who was 28-years-old at the time, helped deliver Thomas Duboyce on Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999.

Hunt was conducting a traffic stop on Interstate 270 in the area of Middlebrook Road when a man ran up to him and told him his wife was having a baby in their van.

Officer Hunt jumped into the couple's van and found the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck, a police statement said.

He removed the cord from the baby, cleared his airway and the baby began to breath. An ambulance then arrived and the mother and baby were transported to the hospital.

Over the years, Officer Hunt and the Duboyce family stayed in contact.

On Friday, Officer Hunt attended the Oakdale High School Graduation of now 18-year-old Thomas.

Congrats to the graduate!
