📰 News we're reading

• Zoo Mantality Brings Community, Brotherhood, and Now Live Workout Battles to Montgomery County (mocoshow.com) — A Germantown-based fitness brotherhood called Zoo Mantality is turning community workouts and mentorship at Avana Northlake apartments into a growing local movement, complete with live “workout battles.” Founders from Northwest High and other Montgomery County roots are expanding into youth programs, food and school supply drives, and paid competitions they hope will put Germantown on the map for this new style of fitness.

• Montgomery County's only charter school will fight closure effort (thebaltimorebanner.com) — Families in Germantown should know that Montgomery County’s only charter school, Mecca Business Learning Institute, was originally supposed to open at a Germantown campus but now faces possible closure before it ever moves there. Superintendent Thomas Taylor is urging the school board to revoke its charter over special education, enrollment, and privacy concerns, while school leaders are appealing to the state for an impartial review.
