• Montgomery County's only charter school will fight closure effort (thebaltimorebanner.com) — A new charter middle school that was supposed to open in Germantown is now fighting a possible shutdown by Montgomery County’s superintendent after a rocky launch in a temporary Bethesda location. Officials cite serious special education and privacy problems, while school leaders blame logistical setbacks and prior schools and are appealing to the state board. Upcoming January school board meetings could determine the school’s future.
