Police Identify Driver Killed In Gaithersburg Crash Saturday Night

Police have identified a Germantown man who died Saturday in a crash on North Frederick Avenue near Travis Avenue in Gaithersburg.

GERMANTOWN, MD — A Germantown man died Saturday night in a crash on North Frederick Avenue near Travis Avenue in Gaithersburg, authorities said.

About 10:12 p.m. Saturday, Gaithersburg Police officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel were called to a collision involving two vehicles.

Investigators said a black 2022 Ram 1500 pick-up truck was northbound on North Frederick Avenue when it collided with a black 2016 Nissan Altima that was also northbound on North Frederick Avenue.

The driver of the Nissan was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The victim has been identified as Isacc Akomanyi of Germantown, according to a police news release.

A passenger in the Nissan and the driver of the Ram were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Police did not release the name of the pickup truck driver.
