'Ride Free' Staying For People Over 65 On MOCO Buses Longterm

People over 65 and people with disabilities will be able to ride MOCO buses for free longterm, even pandemic-era fare cuts end.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — People over 65 and people with disabilities will continue to ride Montgomery County bus for free even if bus fares return, the Department of Transportation Announced. County buses have been free for all during the pandemic.

“I am pleased that we can extend the benefit of free fare to our seniors and disabled community long term,” said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin in an announcement. “These groups have been especially susceptible to isolation throughout the pandemic. Now that things are reopening, the cost of transit should not be prohibiting these community members from accessing transportation.”
