Song Dog Farm Distillery Sets Grand Opening Date
A grain-to-glass distillery, tasting room, and cocktail bar is opening in Montgomery County. A grand opening will feature free tastings.

BOYDS, MD — After more than a decade of planning, growing, and distilling, DC residents Megan Draheim and David Harris will open Song Dog Farm Distillery on Sunday, Oct. 12, in the Montgomery County Agricultural Reserve.
The 29-acre farm distillery will feature on-site production of bourbon, rye, gin, vodka, liqueurs, and ready-to-pour cocktails, along with a tasting room, cocktail bar, and year-round events, according to a news release.
Song Dog brings grain-to-glass spirits to Montgomery County, using cornerstone grains grown both on its farm and by nearby farmers. The business said the spirits program is already gaining recognition: Song Dog Bourbon won a Silver Medal at the 2025 Heartland Whiskey Competition from the American Craft Spirits Association.

The tasting room and cocktail bar will serve cocktails designed by Danny Childs, author of "Slow Drinks," along with low- and no-alcohol options. Guests can also enjoy locally made food such as charcuterie, sandwiches, dips, and rotating food trucks.
The grand opening celebration will be held from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at 18100 Bucklodge Road in Boyds. A ribbon-cutting will be held at 11 a.m.

The day will include free tours and tastings; cocktails, food, and bottles will be available for purchase; and visitors can meet the goats from Bluffing Goat Farm (producers of the goat cheese served at Song Dog).

The distillery is family- and dog-friendly, with a 45-seat indoor tasting room, a 1,500-square-foot porch, and acres of open space for gatherings, picnics, and live music, the owners said. The venue will also host private events.
“This project has been a passion and a labor of love for us for over a decade. Our farm distillery is an opportunity to build community and bring people together,” said co-founder Megan Draheim in a news release.
Business hours are Wednesday through Friday, 3 to 9 p.m; and Saturday and Sunday, noon to 9 p.m.
“We are big believers in spirits terroir — the idea that grain, soil, water, and even local microbes shape flavor. We can’t wait to share the taste of Montgomery County through our whiskies, vodka, gin, and other spirits,” said co-founder David Harris.
