Suspect Charged In Fatal Shooting That Killed Germantown Man
A Columbia man was arrested and charged with murder in the fatal shooting of a man in Germantown in January, police said.

GERMANTOWN, MD — Police arrested a Columbia man in the murder of Maurice Cortez Mercer, who was found dead in a Germantown Home in January.
Mercer was shot to death and found in his home in the 12500 block of Cross Ridge Way on January 3.
Police arrested Quinnton Eric Brown, 30, on April 12.

The arrest stemmed from forensic evidence that linked Brown to the scene, police said. Interviews by detectives also revealed Brown had visited Mercer's home several days before the murder.
"It appeared that Mercer was concerned and fearful after the visit," Montgomery County Police said.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant on April 10 and charged Brown with first-degree murder. He was arrested on the strength of the warrant on April 12 and is currently being held without bond.
