Administrators said the lockdown was precautionary to let staff investigate a threat at Old Mill High School in Millersville.

The high school went on lockdown around 9:52 a.m. Old Mill Middle School North and Old Mill Middle School South, which are on the same complex as the high school, also went on lockdown. The nearby Rippling Woods Elementary School and Ruth Parker Eason School both sheltered in place.

The lockdown and shelter-in-place ended around 10:25 a.m., Old Mill High School said on its website. Normal operations then resumed at all five schools.

Old Mill High said the "lockdown was due to email received by school that school deemed threatening."

Staff said they could not find the sender, who is a student.

Administrators said they found the student soon after and resolved the issue.

Police sent "additional resources" to the school out of an abundance of caution, Old Mill High said.

Principals of the five affected schools sent this letter to families Thursday afternoon.
