Be Prepared: Hurricane Season is Not Over

We’d all like to think we’re in the clear for 2011, but the eastern United States is just starting to enter the peak of the hurricane season. Officially, the season starts June 1 and continues through Nov. 30 every year, with most hurricanes forming between mid-August and late October.
Tropical Storm Irene was not as strong as some thought it would be in our area, but it still caused power outages and problems with downed trees across Anne Arundel County. It served as a reminder to be prepared and have emergency and other useful information at the ready.
