BROOKLYN PARK, MD — An Anne Arundel County man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl is heading to prison, prosecutors said.

A judge on Tuesday sentenced Terence A. Green Jr. of Brooklyn Park to 25 years behind bars, the state's attorney said.

Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said Green will have 5 years of supervised probation after his release and he must also register as a sex offender for life.

“The defendant deserves every bit of this sentence for preying upon a young girl who trusted him,” Leitess said in a press release. “This sentence not only removes the defendant from our community for the foreseeable future, but ensures he is a registered sex offender for life.”

The victim and one of her parents on Aug. 18, 2021, told police that Green raped her the previous month, prosecutors said.

The victim told investigators that she was at Green's home with a friend when Green, who was 27 at the time, invited the girl to the basement to show her something. The state's attorney said Green then forced her to perform sexual acts and forced himself on her, even as she told him to stop.

The friend told police that Green and the victim were alone in the basement for a period of time that day. The friend reported that she also scolded Green when she caught him looking at the girl in a sexual manner as she left, Leitess said.

After two hours of deliberations this March, prosecutors said a jury found Green guilty of two counts each of second-degree rape and third-degree sex offense.

Assistant State's Attorney Anastasia Prigge prosecuted this case, and Judge Cathleen M. Vitale presided over it.
