UPDATE: Cyclist Identified in Fatal Dump Truck Wreck

GLEN BURNIE, MD — A bicyclist died Monday morning after she was hit by a garbage truck, according to Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Irene Diane Szczesniak, 60, of Crofton, was pronounced dead at the scene.

First responders arrived at the scene just before 7:25 a.m. in the area of Central Avenue and Oak Lane SW, where they located the woman.

Witnesses told Anne Arundel Police that a Bates Trucking track truck was heading northbound in the southbound lane on Central Avenue. It was making a right turn onto Alley 206 when the truck struck the cyclist, accordin gto police.
