Dad Beaten To Death Outside Anne Arundel County Home Prompts Arrest: Police
Police arrested a man accused of beating a father to death at his Anne Arundel home. The dad was defending his son after a school fight.
BROOKLYN, MD — Police announced Wednesday that they arrested the first suspect accused of beating a father to death outside his Anne Arundel County home.
Officers said they arrested Trevor Garrett Taylor, 26, in the killing of Christopher Michael Wright, 43. The victim and the suspect are both from Brooklyn, Maryland.
WBAL reported that Wright died on May 20, a day after a group showed up at his house trying to fight his son.

Wright's fiancée, Tracy Karopchinsky, told WBAL that their 14-year-old son got into a fight with another teen at school on May 19. She said three teens and two adults came to their house afterward to try and fight their son, but Wright told them their son wouldn't fight.
The group told Wright they would fight him instead, WBAL said.

Police said medics took Wright to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
Officers declined to say whether charges are pending against any other suspects.
"I loved him more than anything in the world, the father of our kids there's no question in my mind that he loved us and that he loved me," Karopchinsky said at a May 26 vigil, according to FOX 45. "He gave the ultimate sacrifice for his children and that's what I want my kids to know first and foremost about Daddy that he loved them more than anything in this world, anything."
Officers said they presented the case facts to the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office for review.
Homicide detectives said they then applied for charges against Taylor.
Authorities said the court commissioner issued a warrant Tuesday for Taylor on these charges:
- Manslaughter
- Second-degree assault (three counts)
- Affray
- Disorderly conduct
Taylor was served on the warrant and is currently at the central holding and processing center in Annapolis, the Anne Arundel County Police Department said.
