Extremely Warm Classrooms Prompt Early Closure At Glen Burnie School On Monday
Extremely warm classrooms forced a Glen Burnie school to close early on Monday. Students will return to class Tuesday.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Hilltop Elementary School, located in Glen Burnie, closed early on Monday.
"Due [to] an issue with the HVAC system and extremely warm classrooms, Hilltop Elementary School will dismiss for students at 10 a.m.," Anne Arundel County Public Schools spokesperson Bob Mosier said in a press release.
Buses took students home on their regular routes. Walkers and car riders also dismissed at 10 a.m.

Classes continued online. Students logged into their Brightspace accounts in the afternoon to work on asynchronous learning. Teachers did not live stream any lessons.
Students will return to the classroom Tuesday for their normal in-person instruction.

"The rooms are cooling down and the issue is resolved, but we made the decision that it would take too long to get comfortable and it was better to dismiss them early and have them do asynchronous instruction this afternoon," Mosier told Patch.
